Recipe: Perfect Sweet and Sour Tofu

Sweet and Sour Tofu. A plant-based version of this classic Chinese food that is much better and healthier than take out! Tofu is a staple in our kitchen, we use it a lot and also to make recipes for you guys. Add the remaining oil to the pan and heat over medium heat.

Sweet and Sour Tofu Tofu is a great substitute for those who are on a vegan or vegetarian diet. And the two match great with each other too. As you know, I love using the dust and quick fry method with tofu because it gives it a nice, crispy texture while keeping the cubes moist and silky on the inside. You can cook Sweet and Sour Tofu using 11 ingredients and 7 steps. Here is how you achieve it.

Ingredients of Sweet and Sour Tofu

  1. Prepare 275 g of firm tofu, cubed.
  2. Prepare 2 tbsp of soy sauce.
  3. Prepare 1 tbsp of vinegar.
  4. You need 6 tbsp of cornstarch.
  5. You need 2 cloves of garlic, minced.

  7. Prepare 3 tbsp of soy sauce.

  9. Prepare 3 tbsp of water.

  2. Drain the tofu and transfer some of the tofu cubes in a freezer bag with tbsp cornstarch and toss to coat. Repeat this step with rest of tofu and cornstarch. Add more cornstarch if needed..
  3. Fry the tofu cubes in a skillet with cooking oil over medium high heat until all sides are golden brown. Remove tofu from pan and set aside..
  4. Add the garlic in the skillet and stir fry it for 1-2 minutes until they start to golden brown..
  5. To make the sauce just mix all ingredients until well combined..
  6. Add the sauce, and cook until thickens. Stir frequently..
  7. Finally, add the tofu, stir and cook for 1-2 mins more. Then remove pan from heat. And serve..

All the sweet juices and syrups are mixed in with the sour vinegars and oils and then poured into a skillet with vegetables, tofu and pineapple. A few minutes of cooking and the flavors mingle. In our family, we just love sweet and sour tofu. I prepare it with pineapple chunks. However, this simle recipe seems to be dilicous as well!
