Recipe: Perfect Bang Bang Tofu

Bang Bang Tofu. This mouth-watering bang bang tofu is crispy on the outside, sweet, spicy and succulent on the inside. Serve these little bites on their own, over rice, or stuffed into tacos for a scrumptious vegan dinner. No, tofu gets bang bang from the boom boom says you!

Lately I've been seeing recipes for Bang Bang Chicken and Bang Bang Shrimp popping up all over Foodgawker This was no exception. The tofu took the coating and breading perfectly, and crisped. Ingredients of Bang Bang Tofu

  1. You need 2 of egg yolks.
  2. You need 1 1/2 cups of cold water.

Take cubed tofu and place in ziplock. Serve the bang bang tofu and noodles in bowls with the remaining cashews or peanuts, chilli and the shredded mint scattered on top. Tofu is drizzled with bang bang sauce and fresh chopped scallions. The cool tofu with the sweet and lightly spicy sauce is a delicious combination.

Bang Bang Tofu step by step

  1. First you need to drain the tofu: place a clean dish towel on a cutting board, folded in thirds. Place the tofu on top of the towel. Now, fold another clean dish towel into thirds, and place that on top of the tofu. Place something very heavy on top of the dish towel/tofu (I use a cast iron skillet), and let 'drain' for at least 20 minutes. The longer, the better..
